British And French Markets Drive Growth
In January 2024, tourism in Madeira saw an increase in visitors, totaling 697,400 guests, marking a slight rise of 0.1 percentage point compared to January of the previous year. Notably, the British (+3,8%) and French markets (+0.8%) showed growth, while the German market saw a decline (-2.7%), possibly because of the difficult economic situation in the country. Madeira previously expected a rise in tourism from Germany for 2024. A sharp decline could also be noted in the national Portuguese market (-8.6%).

Metrics Show Positive Trends

Additionally, the revenue per room used (ADR) stood at €87.54, reflecting an 11.9 percentage point increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
