Masked Assailant Robs Caixa in Camara de Lobos
This morning a masked assailant armed with a firearm entered the Caixa Geral de Depósitos branch in Camara de Lobos and forced employees to surrender a substantial amount in European Central Bank notes. It is said that allegedly more than 240,000.00 euros got stolen. During the robbery, both employees and customers present in the bank were restrained and tied up by the assailant. After successfully carrying out the crime, the suspect fled the scene with the stolen cash. Ongoing efforts involve utilizing internal video surveillance images to locate and apprehend the perpetrator.
Not an Isolated Event?
This bank robbery is not an isolated event, as it mirrors a similar occurrence just five days prior at a gas station in Caniço. In that incident, a hooded individual threatened an employee with a sharp weapon and managed to escape with a few thousand euros in cash. The proximity of these incidents suggests a potential connection, and law enforcement is actively investigating both cases to determine if there is any link between the two occurrences. Surveillance footage is a critical tool in this ongoing effort to identify the individuals responsible for these crimes.
