Laurent Blond Found Close To His Wife
Following the discovery of Véronique Blond's body (56) yesterday in São Vicente, authorities have now located the body of her husband, Laurent Blond (58), approximately 60 meters away. The couple had gone missing together three weeks earlier on March 16th. Both bodies have now been removed from the scene.
The Couple May Have Fallen When Hiking
The cause of death for both individuals and why they were found 60 meters apart could not be determined yet. However, in a statement from the police, the area indicates that they may have fallen when hiking. An autopsy is necessary to provide clarity on these matters and to allow the families to find closure.
"This area is very off the trail. The indication we give is that he may have fallen in an upper area of the trail to this area. (…) The area is not easily accessible for us to work safely. To safely remove a body from that area, you need to have lashing points, you need to work on ropes and people need to be safe. With nightfall and the difficulties in terrain became impractical."

Identity Confirmation Awaiting Official Verification
While official confirmation of the identities is pending due to the advanced state of decomposition, the attire and belongings found at the scene leave no room for doubt about the identity of the two individuals.
