Direct Route to Europe Capital Returns
Brussels Airlines has resumed its direct connection between Brussels and Madeira. The airline will now operate one flight per week on this route. The first flight of the renewed service landed on Saturday using an Airbus A320neo, which can carry up to 180 passengers.
Warm Welcome for First Passengers
To celebrate the return of the connection, a small ceremony took place at Madeira Airport. A ribbon-cutting event was held, and arriving passengers received local fruit-flavored chocolates in a festive atmosphere.
Stronger Presence of Lufthansa Group in Madeira
Brussels Airlines is part of the Lufthansa Group, and its return adds to the number of airlines in the group already flying to Madeira. Jan Derycke, who is responsible for network and planning at Brussels Airlines, noted that the company is paying closer attention to Portugal and Spain. He said there will be a significant increase in capacity for the summer of 2025, with more flights planned both to new cities and on existing routes.
