Inspection Manager Tries to Explain Drastic Price Hike
Effective today, the costs of automobile inspections in Madeira have increased by almost 50% from 35,50 euros to 53,17 euros. Marco Sousa, the responsible manager at the Inspection Center, explains that these increases are determined by a regional government decree, taking into account the inflation rate measured by the consumer price index.
Increase That Raises Questions
The increase is eagerly debated on Social Media, with some arguing that the hike is due to a lack of competition on the island. Obviously, a 50% increase can hardly be understood or explained through inflation alone. Unless the previous raise was a few decades ago.
Motorcycle Safety: Inspections Mandatory from 2025
Automobile inspections have become mandatory for light, heavy, and trailer vehicles. However, inspection requirements for motorcycles are scheduled to be mandatory only from 2025. Despite these adjustments, Marco Sousa emphasizes that prices in Madeira remain the lowest in the country.
