Was Competition Tailored For The AFA Group?
Today’s headline of Diário de NotÃcias Madeira and a recent report by CNN Portugal has brought attention to the construction of the new Central Hospital of Madeira in Camara de Lobos, raising questions about the legitimacy of the permit awarding process. Within the investigations of the Mega Operation, recently named Operation Zarco, the awarding process is facing inspection by the Prosecutor’s Office.
The suspicion is centered around the possibility that the awarding of permits for the hospital construction may have been arranged. It involves two contracts with a total value of 94 million euros. The hospital is build by the Afa group.
