CineMachico 2024 Celebrates German Cinema

This year's CineMachico features a selection of German classics that are considered essential to the country's cinematic canon.

CineMachico Returns

CineMachico, an annual event organized by the Machico Theater Group, is returning for its eighth edition with a special focus on German cinema. The program, which will run every Saturday in September, promises to showcase films that have marked the history of German cinema and society.

The 8th CineMachico 2024 will take place every Saturday of next month, with screenings at 21:00h, outdoors, in the square next to the Machico Parish Church.

Focus on Germany and German Culture

The festival's goal is to provide the public with the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of Germany, exploring themes such as overcoming trauma, rebuilding after war, and social transformation.

Screenings

Throughout September, CineMachico will present a curated selection of German movies, offering a unique opportunity to take a deep dive into some gems of German cinema.

M (1931): A classic of German noir cinema, directed by Fritz Lang, that explores a city's obsession with a serial killer.
September 7th.

The Merchant of the Four Seasons (1972): A drama by Rainer Werner Fassbinder that portrays the life of a man trying to rebuild his life after the war, offering a deep look at the traumas of German society. September 14th.

Wings of Desire (1987): A poetic work by Wim Wenders that explores the relationship between the divine and the human, with the story of an angel who decides to become mortal.
September 21st.

Goodbye, Lenin! (2003): A comedic drama that playfully addresses the fall of the Berlin Wall and its consequences for people's lives.September 28th.
