New Continente Supermarket Construction Begins Soon
The SONAE Group is set to open its 17th store in Madeira, right in the center of São Vicente. Mayor José António Garcês confirmed to Jornal da Madeira that the project has been approved and licensed, with construction of the supermarket starting this week and expected to be completed by the end of the year. The new store is expected to create 60 jobs and generate €200,000 for the municipality.
All Eyes On LIDL
The news of Continente's expansion with a 17th supermarket in Madeira intensifies speculation about when Lidl, the popular German discount supermarket chain, will finally enter the Madeiran market and establish its first store on the island.
