Manuel António Correia Attacks Albuquerque: "PSD A Sick Party"

Manuel António Correia lashes out at Albuquerque and heavily criticizes his own party, demanding radical and immediate political surgery to secure political survival.

Correia Gears Up for Political Battle on March 21st

Manuel António Correia, the only opponent of Miguel Albuquerque in the upcoming direct elections on March 21st, has heavily criticized the current state of the Social Democratic Party of Madeira (PSD-M). Addressing the political situation less than 24 hours after legislative elections (!), Correia emphasized the urgent need for a profound renewal of the PSD-M. He stated that his own party is currently a "sick party" (partido doente) that is disconnected from the citizens.

With even harsher words, Manuel António Correia considers that his party "has only survived through successive, disconnected and incoherent alliances", in which, he stressed, "one sells one's soul and auctions off public places to survive, including the highest position of Autonomy".

Correia: PSD Leadership Fails Madeira

According to Correia, a significant portion of Madeirans do not identify with the current party leadership, leading to systematic losses in votes and mandates. Correia highlighted the recent elections as the worst performance ever for the PSD Madeira in national and regional electoral acts. He acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Pedro Coelho, the party's candidate, but attributed the poor performance to the current leadership.

PSD Must Undergo Radical Changes To Survive

The only opponent of Albuquerque for PSD leadership stressed that the PSD-M must undergo radical changes to survive as a party of power. He warned that unless there is a shift in perception, the party risks losing support among the electorate. In a bold statement, Correia declared, "Either we change, or the Madeirans change us." He emphasized that it is the "last hour" to avoid handing over Madeira to an unprepared opposition, urging the party to act swiftly.

Albuquerque Unable To Form A Stable Government

In his critique of Miguel Albuquerque's leadership, Correia argued that even if the PSD wins, the region does not benefit, citing Albuquerque's inability to form a stable government. He claimed that the people of Madeira are tired and deserve a government that governs efficiently and without negative publicity.
