Consultation Costs Set to Increase to 60 Euros
Pedro Ramos, the Regional Secretary for Health, addressed concerns about disagreements with doctors. Speaking at the European Antibiotic Awareness Day event, he assured the public that discussions with the Medical Council were productive and that all parties agreed on the need for this price increase.
Consultations will cost 60 euros starting from December 1, 2024, reflecting a 5-euro increase from the current price. In the first year, the increase will be fully covered by IASAÚDE through reimbursements. A new increase is planned for December 2026 and December 2027, of 5 euros each year (raising the consultation cost to 65 and 70 euros, respectively). In both years, the increase will be split equally between the patient and the Regional Government, with an additional 2.5 euros each year paid by both parties.
Government to Invest Nearly 2 Million Euros in Healthcare
The Regional Government will invest almost 2 million euros over the next three years through the Institute for Health Administration (IASAÚDE). This funding aims to support the private healthcare sector and ensure it complements public health services.
