Madeira Emerges as the Ideal Location for EV-Friendly Homes

According to a recent study by Idealista, Madeira stands out as the top spot in Portugal for having the highest number of homes with garages perfect for electric vehicle (EV) charging.
61% Of Homes In Madeira Have A Garage Or A Parking Space
The study found that 61% of homes in Madeira come with a garage or parking space, making it the region with the best potential for installing EV charging points. In comparison, other regions like Porto (50%), Aveiro (49%), and Braga (49%) also offer good options, but Madeira takes the lead by far. Lisbon with 27% and Beja (16%), Portalegre, or Évora (both 18%) have way fewer opportunities to facilitate electric charging of vehicles at home.
Why Do So Many Homes in Madeira Have Private Parking Spaces?
Firstly, the island's great weather encourages people to spend time outdoors, so having a garage or a private parking space becomes necessary to store cars, gardening tools, and other outdoor items. Secondly, in crowded places like Funchal or many other areas in Madeira, there isn't much space for parking on the streets, so private garages are important. Moreover, the real estate market in cities like Funchal and Madeiran property values in general encourage people to invest in garages, which can increase the overall value of their homes.
