World Tourism Day Event Opens to the Public

On September 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Museu de Eletricidade Casa da Luz will host the ‘Turismo na Madeira: Presente e Futuro’ (Tourism in Madeira: Present and Future) conference in celebration of World Tourism Day. This event, organized by the Associação de Investigação Científica do Atlântico (AICA) in partnership with the Empresa de Eletricidade da Madeira (EEM), is free and open to everyone.

Tourism Experts Share Professional Insights

The first panel, titled ‘A Visão dos Profissionais do Turismo’ (The Vision of Tourism Professionals), will feature a diverse group of industry experts, including a tour guide, hotel director, five-star hotel receptionist, travel agency manager, and tourism entertainer. They will share their experiences and discuss the evolving landscape of tourism in Madeira, providing valuable insights from their interactions with visitors.

We will explore the relationship between culture and tourism that exists in all regions, as well as the impact of climate on tourism, including its effects on geographical areas and sustainable development, which encompasses environmental, economic, and social sustainability.

The second panel, ‘Turismo: Oportunidades e Desafios’ (Tourism: Opportunities and Challenges), will include presentations by two academic experts. The discussion will emphasize sustainable development, focusing on the environmental, economic, and social aspects that are vital for the future of tourism in Madeira.
