Firefighters on Scene as Smoke Looms Over Funchal
According to Dnoticias, an extensive fire broke out at the Rodoeste bus garage in Rua Dr. Pestana Júnior (Campo da Barca). Firefighters are on the scene and are working to contain the damage. A cloud of smoke is seen to be looming over parts of Funchal.
Reasons Yet Unknown but Considerable Damage Reported
The fire created considerable damage, destroying at least 4 Rodoeste Busses. It is yet unknown who is responsible or what has caused the fire, the police is investigating. We hope that everyone is safe and that the fire can be contained swiftly.
Rodoeste has been running its services in Madeira for 56 years, running connections in the West of Madeira. As of the unclear circumstances, it is unknown whether the incident will have an impact on Rodoeste’s services in public transportation.
