The search for the missing French couple, Véronique and Laurent Blond, on Madeira Island continues, with authorities employing air, land, and sea resources. About 30 people are officially involved in the rescue. Recent adverse weather conditions have forced a temporary suspension of search operations on Wednesday.
Couple Disappeared Without Leaving A Trace
According to João Góis from Diário de Notícias da Madeira, the couple has disappeared without leaving a trace. Neither a backpack nor clothes could be retrieved. These circumstances are the reason why the local police are currently not ruling out any leads.
French Police Searches Home, Seizes Phones And Electronic Devices
The couple is living in France and is running a bakery in Beaumont-de-Lomagne (Tarn-et-Garonne). While the investigation in Portugal is continuing, french police have searched their home and seized both phones and electronic devices that could serve as evidence or contribute to solving the case. However, according to The public prosecutor, the search has not brought up any leads. Investigators also did not find any evidence that would hint at the couple wanting to end their lives.
Over the course of 7 hours of navigation, Atlântico 1 covered approximately 53 nautical miles and no evidence was detected of the whereabouts of the French tourists who are in an uncertain part.

Searches For French Couple Aged 58 And 56
A French tourist couple, aged 58 and 56, has been reported missing on the northern coast of Madeira Island. The alert was raised by their daughter, who stayed at their accommodation while they went for a walk in São Vicente. Searches by land, sea, and air have until tonight yielded no concrete results.
Witnesses Claim Having Seen The Couple On Saturday Afternoon
Witnesses reported seeing the couple walking along Avenida Marcos Marques Rosa towards Porto Moniz, a neighboring municipality to São Vicente, around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. The man, aged 58, is described as 1.80m tall, wearing a gray jacket and blue tracksuit pants, while the 56-year-old woman, 1.69m tall, was wearing a blue sports jacket and carrying a pink backpack.
Last Known Location: Véu Da Noiva
The last known location from one of their mobile phones was near Véu da Noiva, en route to Seixal, although search teams initially headed in the opposite direction towards Ponta Delgada. The phones of the couple are currently turned off.
No Concrete Leads Until This Evening
Despite these efforts, there have been no concrete leads regarding the whereabouts of the missing tourists. The large-scale search for the couple has been suspended this evening and will be resumed tomorrow morning. The Police have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Porto Moniz Police Station at 291 853 361.
