Madeira Government Sees Revenue Jump Of 21.3% In April 2024

Regional Government Budget Execution: Key Figures for April 2024

The Regional Government of Madeira experienced a significant increase in effective revenue in April 2024, rising by 21.3% compared to the same period in the previous year. This was primarily due to an upward trend in both tax and non-tax revenue, with the latter being partially driven by increased transfers from the State.

The Regional Government's effective expenditure evolved at a slower pace than effective revenue, registering a year-on-year variation of +59.3 million euros

Expenditures Rise By 4.8%

While revenue saw a notable increase, actual expenditure also rose by 4.8% compared to April 2023. A key takeaway from the Budget Execution Bulletin is the significant allocation of resources to the social sector, specifically education and health, which accounted for 241.8 million euros in spending. This demonstrates the government's commitment to investing in essential public services.

Liabilities Reach 232 Million Euros

The accumulated liabilities of the Regional Public Administration reached 232.3 million euros by the end of April 2024, with the Regional Government responsible for 34.6% of these obligations. The total budget of the regional government is 2,238 million euros in 2024. It has never been higher.

In the previous year, more than half of the expenditure (more than 55.2% of total expenditure) was channeled to the social area , where the Health sector stands out with a budget execution of 411.5 million of euros and Education with 420.2 million euros.
