New Bus Services To Pico Do Arieiro

Excellent news coming from Horários do Funchal, which announces a new bus service, which is set to launch on August 5th, aiming to improve accessibility to Pico do Areeiro and reduce critical traffic congestion in the area, which got out of hand a while ago.

Two Distinct Routes Are Offered:

▶️ Funchal to Pico do Areeiro:

This 31-seater bus will connect the center of Funchal directly to Pico do Areeiro. The journey will cost €3.00 per passenger, per trip.

Summer Time Schedule:

• Departures from Funchal center are scheduled for 6:00 and 13:30 with arrival at 06:45 and 14:15 at Pico do Arieiro.

• The descending route from Pico do Areeiro will be at 12:15 and 19:00 with arrivals in the center of Funchal at 13:00 and 19:45.

▶️ Shuttle Service on ER 202

A 31-seater bus with standing room for up to 40 passengers will operate on the ER 202 road between the junction with Caminho Florestal das Serras de Santo António and the roundabout near the radar at Pico do Areeiro. Costs: €1.20 per passenger, per trip. See more info.

• Trips on this service to Pico do Arieiro are scheduled to take place between 06:40 and 14:10

• Trips back from Pico do Arieiro are scheduled at 12:15 and 19:00.

Bus Services Operate Daily

Both services will operate daily, including weekends and holidays, except on December 25th or when weather conditions or road access are unfavorable. The service has been designed to operate during both summer and winter, with specific timetables for each season.
