Increased Demand Causes Long Waiting Lines
Horários do Funchal experienced a surge in demand at its counters, particularly from Madeirans aged 65 and above, applying for the new free pass (Passe Social +65) effective from January 1st.
The increased demand resulted in long waiting lines, causing dissatisfaction among elderly customers. To provide immediate relief, the company took proactive steps. Users aged 65 or older were authorized to board public transportation from January 1, 2024, by simply presenting their Citizen Card or ID to the driver.
Temporary Arrangement with Deadline Until March 1
This arrangement is only temporary. Horários do Funchal set specific dates for giving out the Social Pass +65. Elderly people are asked to request their pass within the specified timeframes.
People aged 65 to 74 from January 8 to 21
Everyone aged 75+ from February 5 to 18
From March 1, everyone is required to show the Social Pass +65 in order to take advantage of free public transportation with Horários do Funchal.
New Users of the Passe Social +65 are urgently advised to visit the service counter during the specified dates. Please do not wait until the last days of each period, thus avoiding queues and inconveniences.
