Prepaid Ticket Sales Return with Limited Availability
Horários do Funchal (HF) has announced the return of prepaid ticket purchases for its urban network. Customers will be able to load trips onto old HF passes and tickets from January 31, 2025, until March 31, 2025. However, the company emphasized that these purchases will only be available at Payshop agents and not at HF service counters or ticket vending machines.
Deadline for Use Set for May 2025
HF urges customers to carefully manage their ticket purchases to avoid losing unused trips. The company also reminded passengers that prepaid tickets are limited to existing stock, advising them to retain old tickets or use their previous HF pass to load trips.
It is not possible to load trips at HF service counters or HF ticket machines.

Transition to a New Ticketing System Underway
These changes are part of the transition to the new integrated ticketing system in Madeira. Once fully implemented, it will allow passengers to use a single contactless card or mobile application across all participating public transport operators. The initiative aims to simplify travel by providing unified services and fare structures, making it easier for users to navigate different modes of transportation.
Real-Time Info Will Finally Be Provided
The new system will feature real-time information, enabling passengers to monitor bus locations and travel times online and on onboard displays. HF is also developing the GIROGO app, which will let users purchase and validate tickets directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need for physical tickets.
