The budget proposal outlines that total transfers to the autonomous regions under the Regional Finance Law (LFR) will amount to €599 million. Of this, €279.8 million is set to be assigned to Madeira, reflecting a decrease of 8.2%, which equates to €25.1 million less than the €304.9 million allocated for Madeira in 2024.

In contrast, the Azores are set to receive a slight increase of 1.3%, with funding projected at €319.3 million. The disparity in financial allocations has raised eyebrows, prompting discussions on the fairness and implications of these budgetary decisions.
