Readers Choose Madeira for Its Unique Nature, Mild Climate, and Local Culture
Madeira has been named the "Best European Destination" in the 2025 edition of the Premio de los Lectores, an annual award from the Spanish version of Viajes National Geographic. This recognition came after the magazine’s readers voted across 16 categories, selecting their favorite destinations, hotels, and tourism projects from a shortlist of 80 finalists.
The awards, now in their third year, reflect public opinion and are based on a combination of expert selection and reader votes. Madeira was praised for its rich natural beauty, including volcanic landscapes, mountains, waterfalls, and the UNESCO-listed Laurisilva Forest. The island’s climate, which stays mild all year, allows for outdoor activities and sightseeing no matter the season.
Madeira’s Tourism Strategy Pays Off with Continued Recognition
We have maintained a constant focus on improving the quality of our offerings, through numerous projects aimed at ensuring Madeira's presence on the radar of the global tourism industry and, above all, establishing the Region as a unique tourist destination — for everyone, and all year round. It is with great satisfaction that we receive awards like this, as they confirm that the work carried out truly translates into the perception visitors and tourists have of Madeira.
