Madeira Suffers Three Fatal Road Accidents in Just One Week

In the past week, Madeira has endured three tragic road accidents that resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including two minors.

Tragic Accidents Claim Young Lives

In a somber week for the island of Madeira, three lives were tragically lost on the region's roads. Two young individuals died in a motorcycle accident inside the Quinta Grande tunnel last Sunday. The following day, a 69-year-old man experienced a heart attack while driving and succumbed to injuries sustained from a car crash on the fast lane near Boa Nova.

Significantly More Road Accidents

According to the Public Security Police (PSP), the period between September 27 and October 3 saw a significant rise in road incidents, with a total of 69 accidents reported. These incidents resulted in 14 individuals sustaining minor injuries, while two were classified as serious.

The breakdown of the accidents included 50 collisions, 15 instances of vehicles leaving the roadway, one pedestrian being struck, and three other unspecified accidents.
