Accident Occured Moments Ago As Reported By Diário de Notícias da Madeira
A tragic accident occurred moments ago on the via rápida towards Santa Cruz - Funchal in the Madeira Airport area, resulting in the death of a man whose age has not yet been determined. According to Diário de Notícias da Madeira, the man was walking on the road when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The Public Security Police have already arrived at the scene. Update: Victim A 50 Year Old Madeiran Resident Of Foreign Nationality
As reported by RTP Madeira, the person that got run over is a 50-year-old who lives in Madeira and is of foreign nationality. He got hit by a VAN heading towards Machico - Ribeira Brava, before exiting for the airport. The driver of the van, a young man in his twenties, is in a state of shock and ha been transported to the hospital.
The driver of the car that this afternoon fatally ran over a man on the highway, in the Airport area, in Santa Cruz, was in a state of shock due to the accident and had to be transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
The 21-year-old young man was transported to the Emergency Service in an ambulance from the Firefighters Sapadores de Santa Cruz.
Second Deadly Accident Within Two Weeks
This is the second deadly accident on the streets of Madeira within less than two weeks. On May 26, a 30-year-old motorcyclist died in a traffic accident in the Lugar de Baixo tunnel in Ponta do Sol.
