Eighth Annual Event Taking Place This Sunday
Camara de Lobos is gearing up for its eighth annual event to celebrate the New Year, set to take place on January 7. The highlight of the celebration is the sharing of a Mega Bolo-Rei, a traditional Portuguese Christmas cake, prepared by Pastelaria Nata da Baia.
Definitely The Biggest Cake in Town
Impressive in size, the cake measures a whopping 180 meters in length and weighs approximately 265 kilograms.To ensure the freshness of the mega Bolo-Rei, production will start 24 hours before the event.
The assembly of the gigantic cake will take place in Plaza de la Autonomia, starting at 10 am, and a public presentation is scheduled for 11 am. Following the presentation, the cake will be cut and distributed to visitors, accompanied by the traditional ginjinha liquor.
President Albuquerque Will Attend the Event
The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, will be present at the event. The event, slated to last until 12:30 pm, will also feature musical entertainment in the gazebo, showcasing performances of traditional festive songs.
The primary goal is to stimulate commercial activity in the city center. Building on the success of previous editions, which consistently attracted a large number of people, this event has become a remarkable and cherished festive tradition in Camara de Lobos and the surrounding region.
