Until today, a total of 103 businesses & merchants on Madeira have adopted Bitcoin as a payment method, marking a significant step in the region’s cryptocurrency integration. This milestone highlights Bitcoin’s growing presence in everyday commerce on the island, with the number of adopting businesses continuing to rise.

Merchants Across Multiple Sectors Embrace Bitcoin

Restaurants, cafes, services, and health-related businesses are leading the charge, with restaurants accounting for 22% of Bitcoin-adopting merchants. Other sectors such as leisure, commerce, and accommodation are also embracing digital currency:

• Services: 19%

• Cafes and Bars: 16%

• Health: 15%

• Leisure Activities: 9%

• Commerce: 8%

• Sports and Wellbeing: 6%

• Accommodation: 4%
