High Waves Expected on the Northern Coast and Porto Santo

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued an orange warning for rough seas affecting the northern coast of Madeira and Porto Santo. This warning will be in place from 03:00 to 18:00 on Saturday, March 8. Waves from the northwest are expected to reach heights of 5 to 6 meters, with some possibly reaching up to 10 meters.

Heavy Rain Forecasted for the Southern Coast

A yellow warning has been issued for heavy rainfall on the southern coast of Madeira. The warning will be active from midnight to 06:00 on Friday, March 7. Residents and visitors are advised to take precautions, as intense rainfall can lead to localized flooding and difficult driving conditions.

Strong Winds Across Madeira and Porto Santo

In addition, a yellow warning has been issued for strong winds across all regions of Madeira and Porto Santo. The warning will be in effect from 18:00 on March 7 until 15:00 on March 8. Winds from the west are expected to bring gusts of up to 80 km/h, which could impact travel and outdoor activities.

Authorities recommend that residents and visitors stay informed about weather updates and avoid unnecessary risks, especially near coastal areas during the period of rough seas.
