Portuguese Government Condemns Damage to Embassy Office
With its most recent missile strikes and atrocities targeting Kyiv, Russia was further advancing its aggression against Ukraine and NATO states. A strike damaging the chancellery of Portugal's embassy was effectively striking Portuguese territory in Ukraine. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lisbon expressed outrage over the attack, which also affected other diplomatic missions in the city.

Russia Summoned for Formal Protest
In response to the incident, the Russian chargé d'affaires in Lisbon has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a formal protest. The Palácio das Necessidades, where the ministry is headquartered, made it clear that such acts are "absolutely unacceptable."

Foreign Minister Denounces Violation of Diplomatic Sovereignty
Portugal's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, addressed the press in Cascais, underscoring that damage to diplomatic sites cannot be tolerated under international law. He confirmed that while the chancellery building sustained material damage, no embassy staff members were injured.
