Madeira's Oldest Father Is 68, The Youngest Only 17
The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) disclosed the characteristics of parents of newborns in the region. Among the 1,758 children born to mothers in Madeira in 2022, fathers ranged from 17 to 68 years old.
Almost All Father’s Are Living In Madeira
Nearly all fathers (98.2%) were residents of Madeira, with some (4.3%) holding foreign nationality, primarily Brazilian and Venezuelan. Most fathers (52.7%) fell between the ages of 30 and 39, with an average parental age of 34.8 years.
Many Father’s Are Not Married
Regarding marital status, 41.8% of fathers lived with the mother of their children outside of marriage, while 20.5% did not cohabit. Education-wise, 40.3% had completed secondary education, 24.9% had pursued higher education and 24.2% had finished basic education.
Father’s Tend To Be Employed
Employment statistics showed that 92.7% of fathers were employed, 4.7% were unemployed, and 19.7% worked as salespeople. These findings were obtained from birth certificates collected by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
