Throughout the past few days, several reports have surfaced about the temporary closure of different commercial restaurants in the Funchal area. The closures have taken place, following an inspection by the Autoridade Regional das Atividades Económicas (AREA). The restaurants are:
The Golden Island, on Estrada Monumental
Penha d’Aguia in Funchal center and Ajuda
Restaurante Apolo, in Funchal center
When questioned by DIÁRIO, the entity that confirmed "as part of ARAE's normal activity, was there an inspection action the company in question and this action led to the temporary suspension of the company's economic activity

We Do Not Know The Reason For The Closures
Details regarding the closures of several restaurants remain scarce. It is known that in one instance, the health authority was involved.
The Regional Authority for Economic Activities (ARAE) reported that an inspection was carried out on the company in question, as part of this Regional Authority's activities, with the collaboration of the Health Authority.
"The action resulted in the temporary suspension of the company's economic activity," confirmed ARAE, without clarifying the reason for this closure.
