76-Year-Old-Tourist Dies After Cardiorespiratory Arrest
According to a report from Diário de Notícias da Madeira, a 76-year-old tourist was walking along the PR8 Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço in Caniçal today when he suddenly fell ill near the Cais do Sardinha and asked for help at the end of the trail. The tourist subsequently went into cardiorespiratory arrest. Emergency services, including the Machico Municipal Firefighters and the Rapid Intervention Medical Team (EMIR), have been called to provide first aid. Unfortunately, despite their efforts to revive him, the tourist was declared dead at the scene.
Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço Considered A Less Challenging Hike
The PR 8 - Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço is generally considered a medium to easy hike as it is considerably less challenging than many other hiking routes in Madeira. No info regarding the general health of the tourist or other info like nationality has been revealed until now.
